Greetings Brothers:This is one of the best times to be in the Scottish Rite. During the holiday season when our thoughts become centered on family and friends and we stop to give thanks for all the blessings we enjoy. We realize how special it is to belong to an organization based on concepts of brotherly love, relief, and truth. We are all proud of our newest brothers; George Helms, Carl Noffsinger and Larry Robison, who joined us at the Fall Reunion, and we send them a special greeting: the principles of Scottish Rite Masonry will change your life, enlarge your circle of friends, and raise your level of Masonic knowledge and understanding. We're happy you're among us. Because the Scottish Rite Valley of Traverse City is like one large extended family, we change our procedures during the holiday season. The workings of the Board of Directors goes dark for the months of November and December to give all our members more opportunity to spend time with their families. Still, we want to encourage you to support your Blue Lodge during this time, In most Blue Lodges, November is when the officers are elected for the coming year, and then in December comes the installation of those officers. There are dinners, Christmas parties, and all types of social events. Strong Blue Lodges are the foundation of all else in Masonry and it is of the utmost importance that we Scottish Rite Masons work to support and be active in our Blue Lodge. Because we are a family too, we are going to have a get together in December. Our Christmas Party will be December the 7th at the Country Kitchen Restaurant in Cadillac. The Social Hour will begin at 3:00pm and dinner will be served at 4:00pm. The cost is $15.00 per person. If you have any questions, give Jim Larson a call. Come and share part of this special season with your fellow brothers of the Scottish Rite. The Board will take up the official work of the Valley once again in January. The January and February meetings will be on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00pm, but they will be held at the Masonic Center in Mesick, rather than in Traverse City. We hope to see you there. The Spring Reunion seems light years away, but in reality, it's right around the corner. Degree teams will be forming and the myriad of details pertaining to such a big event will have to be addressed. We encourage you to get involved, be an actor, do makeup, or work on the sets. Come and be part of the fun! The most important thing you can do is to take a petition and carry it with you. Then when you meet someone you think would like to be a part of a group that strives to make the world a bit better and enjoys having good, clean fun, give him that petition and help him become part of a great organization; an organization that will change his life. That's it for now. We ask that you treat others as you wish to be treated and go support your Blue Lodge. I'll see you at the party!
